NUS Amgen Scholars Program 2025 in Singapore & Japan | Fully Funded  

The NUS Amgen Scholars Program aims to inspire the next generation of innovators by offering hands-on summer research experiences at top-tier educational and research institutions. This fully funded program, which originated in the US, Europe, and Japan, has now been extended to Singapore. Among the leading universities in Asia hosting this prestigious program is the National University of Singapore (NUS). The primary objective of this undergraduate scholarship is to support students pursuing careers in biology or related disciplines. This international initiative provides participants with an intensive 8-week research experience in biomedical and biotechnological sciences, spanning both fundamental and applied research.   

Scholars will receive guidance and mentorship from faculty members of the Department of Biological Sciences and other collaborating departments at NUS. Additionally, participants will explore graduate program opportunities at NUS through informational sessions. Weekly seminars and conferences will allow them to engage with distinguished guest scientists, fostering meaningful connections. The program also offers access to campus facilities such as the library, University Health Services, and Sports Centre. Alongside the academic rigor, participants will enjoy social gatherings and excursions, making this summer research program a comprehensive and enriching experience.   

NUS Amgen Scholars Program 2025 in Singapore & Japan:    

Host Country: Singapore   

Host Institution: National University of Singapore   

Program Location: Singapore and Japan   

Program Duration: 2 Months   

Dates of Internship in Singapore: 5th June to 7th August 2025   

Dates of Symposium in Japan: 5th – 7 Aug 2025   

Fields of Study:    

Focus on life sciences, biotechnology, biomedicine, and related fields.   

International participants:   

• Accommodation will be arranged by the National University of Singapore.   

• Students will get a travel grant up to SGD1500 which will cover airfare to Singapore from home country and from Kyoto back to home country after attending the symposium.   

• Students will get a stipend of SGD6000 for 8-weeks which will covers all their living costs during the summer program such as local transportation, meals, etc.   

• Visa fees will be covered by National University of Singapore.   

Local participants:   

• Accommodation will be given to local students during the program.   

• They will get travel grant which will include round trip airfare to and back from the Symposium.   

• A stipend of SGD6000 for 8 weeks will be given which will include cost of living including transportation, meals, etc.

Eligibility Criteria:    

• The Amgen Scholars program at the National University of Singapore is open to all the Nationals.   

• The applicant must be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program at any University in Asia.   

• Must have completed at least the first year of undergraduate study.   

• A strong record of academic performance.   

• If your current university uses English as the primary language of instruction, a letter from the university confirming this will be sufficient.   

Program Experience  

Participants will:   

• Conduct independent research under the supervision of faculty mentors.   

• Participate in workshops, seminars, and networking events.   

• Present their research findings at a symposium.
