IARC Summer School 2025 in Lyon France Funded

The IARC Summer School 2025 is designed for researchers and medical professionals involved in cancer prevention and control. This school will emphasize the urge for global collaboration and provide a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment for learning. The program would help participants in professional networking and to interact with IARC instructors, international experts, and participants.  

The Summer School comprises two modules:  

  • Introduction to Cancer Epidemiology. This module will teach how to apply epidemiological methods to study the causes of cancer and improve control strategies related to cancer.  

  • Implementing Cancer Prevention and Early Detection – This module focuses on key ideas and practices to prevent and promptly detect cancer, and how to enforce the programs.  

This highly-funded program is a blend of online and in-person learning activities. The online portion lasts 2-4 weeks and includes live sessions, individual work, and group assignments. The in-person training is a 5-day session held in Lyon, France, where participants will engage in lectures, group discussions, and practical workshops with IARC faculty. Participants will have the opportunity to visit important sites, meet IARC scientists, and attend networking events.

Eligibility Criteria           
Here are the eligibility criteria for the IARC Summer School.    

 

  • Eligible applicants include cancer registry staff, epidemiologists, statisticians, physicians, oncologists, public health specialists, postgraduate students and all those who are interested in cancer epidemiology, cancer registration, or cancer control.  

  • Applicant countries must be from low- or middle-income countries.  

  • Preliminary knowledge of English is recommended ( applicants are expected to be literate and fairly fluent).  

  • Participants should note that they can apply and attend one of the two modules offered.  

  • Applicants should satisfy the requirements of the chosen module and be acquainted with what it covers and achieves.  

  • Applicants shall view all the time required to complete the module prior to applying.  

  • All online and on-campus sessions will be attended by the participants.  

  • A completion certificate will be issued only to those participants who participate in all sessions and activities of the course.  

  • A completion certificate needs to be requested during the application.  

  • At the time of applying, a signed recommendation letter from a supervisor or university is required.
