Applications are now open for the METI Japan Government Internship Program 2026, a fully funded opportunity for international students and young professionals from developing countries. This prestigious internship, supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, is available in both online and in-person formats, allowing participants to choose the option that best suits their circumstances.
The program offers a valuable chance to gain hands-on experience with Japanese companies. Participants in the in-person track will work directly in Japan, while those opting for the virtual format can collaborate remotely. Interns will develop a deeper understanding of Japanese workplace culture, job responsibilities, and professional expectations under the guidance of experienced supervisors.
Beyond the internship period, the program continues to support participants by connecting them with potential employment opportunities in Japan. It also includes Japanese language training and career development support, helping interns strengthen their global career prospects.
The initiative is designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Japan expand globally by engaging skilled international talent. Interns will be matched with host companies based on their background and interests, following a structured selection and interview process.
